What Is a Pool Grotto?
A Hidden Oasis Built Into Your Pool
A pool grotto is a cave-like structure typically built from natural or artificial rock, often located behind a cascading waterfall. It serves as a shaded, private lounge or swim-in area within your pool design. Many grottos also feature built-in seating, lighting, and spa jets.
Functional and Beautiful
Grottos offer relief from the sun, create natural acoustics for relaxing sounds of falling water, and provide a playful retreat for kids and adults alike.
Types of Pool Grottos We Offer
Waterfall Grottos
These grottos sit behind a dramatic waterfall feature, creating a natural, tropical ambiance. Combine with custom waterfalls for maximum impact.
Spa Grottos
Integrated into your custom spa installation, spa grottos add an intimate, cozy setting to enjoy heated relaxation away from the sun or wind.
Hidden Bench Grottos
Designed for lounging, these grottos include stone benches, mood lighting, and sometimes hydrotherapy jets, offering a cool and calming space inside the pool.
Why Add a Grotto to Your Pool?
Year-Round Comfort
Grottos provide shade in summer and shelter from wind in cooler months, making your pool enjoyable all year long.
Unique Entertainment Value
Grottos are conversation starters and instantly make your backyard the go-to destination for family gatherings, parties, or romantic evenings.
Property Value Boost
Custom grottos can significantly raise your home’s aesthetic and monetary value by elevating your pool design to resort-like standards.
Our Featured Projects
Customizing Your Grotto
Integrated Lighting
Choose color-changing LED lights for dramatic effects inside the grotto during evening swims.
Sound & Water Features
Add a cascading sheetfall or natural rock waterfall to flow over your grotto entrance for that tropical escape vibe.
Premium Materials
We use high-quality faux rock, real stone, stamped concrete, and waterproof sealants to create grottos that are as durable as they are beautiful.
Pool Grotto Maintenance Tips
Regular Water Circulation Checks
Ensure the waterfall or any integrated jets are free from blockages and operating at the right pressure.
Cleaning & Sealing
Grottos, especially natural rock ones, should be cleaned to prevent algae buildup. Sealing stone features can help maintain appearance and longevity.
LED & Pump System Servicing
Regular checks of integrated lighting and water systems help prevent costly repairs and maintain optimal performance.
